Wax ups

Here are the other photos I promised. Theses are the lab wax ups I have been working on. We practice these in lab and then we get tested on them. We have about 3 hours to wax up a tooth from scratch in lab, then they grade us on how good they look and all that. So far it has been going well for me. I really like how this molar turned out. (Blue wax at the bottom) The first tooth here is multicolored because on the frist project they had us use different colored waxes for different things. So the red area is where it would contact the other tooth next to it in the mouth, then the green on the sides, or margins of the tooth. Then the blue wax on the lingual and facial surfaces.

A Philly Adventure

So here are a few pictures of one of the adventures we have gone on. We went over to Fairmount park here in Philly. It is right off the Schuylkill River. (Pronounced Skoo-kull) There are some great paths along there so we did a little rollerblading. At the south end of the park is the Philadelphia Art Museum and the famous "Rocky Stairs" as well as the Rocky statue they have. Also there is a row of pretty cool houses called Boathouse Row. It is where all the local colleges house thier crew teams (rowing).

Still Here

Well we are in the middle of week four here at Temple Dental and I am still surviving. Actually, I am more than surviving. It has been a pretty easy run so far. Most all of the classes I have have been a review of stuff I learned in undergrad already or in Dr. Mirci's Predental Orientation class. We have just had a few quizzes here and there and I am doing fine on all of those. The Restorative Dentistry lab we have is going along well too and I am churning out little wax teeth like a madman. We have our first lab practical on thursday, but I am not too worked up about it. I will do fine and I will have plenty of time. They give us 3 and 1/2 hours and I should only need about an hour to get it done. It is a wax up of tooth number 6 (upper right canine in case you were wondering) and it is pretty straight forward.

Ashley started work this week at the tennis club nearby. She thinks she will like it and it will be good for her. She has also even been able to line up some private lessons on top of the regular classes she will be teaching. So things are falling into place for her it seems.

Aside from that really not too much going on. We are enjoying where we live and enjoying the nice weather we have been having too. We went out to a park here in the city and did a little rollerblading and that, and of course we found the "Rocky Stairs" and the statue and took pictures. I will try and post those as well as some pictures of my wax ups on here soon so you all can see what it is we have been up to.

Well I am off to bed, it is late and I had a long day so I am tired.
